Of course France is famous for its baguettes, cheeses and wines. Did you know that the French eat a total of 1.4 times the earth’s diameters worth of baguette a year!!! All through the countryside of France wine fields spread out as far as you can see.

In France the official language is French, it is also the only recognized language. There are other languages and dialects spoken as well in France but none of them is recognized as an official language.

France knows 4 diffrent climates, in the west near the cost there is a typical maritime climate Which means that the winters are mild, the summers cool and a frequent rainfall during 180 days a year. More landing ward France has a mild-latitude continental climate. Here there are much hotter summers and more rigorous winters. Also the rainfall is much fewer here. A mountain climate is found in the higher parts of France, temperatures are very low due to the high mountains which involves relative cool summers and extremely cold winters. A Mediterranean climate exists over a distance of 20 to 60 km along the Mediterranean coast. The summers are hot and the winters mild and soft. Rain does fall here but only very rarely.

France is divided into 22 regions each split up in different departments. The French government is divided into many sections and ministries, below you will find a list of the most important ones. A simplified hierarchy is as follows: The President of France, The Senat, The Parliament, Regional council, County council, Town council.

Shopping in France


If you love shopping you’ll adore France. During your studying, internship or practical work experience you’ll find the greatest stores, brands, centers, malls and shopping streets in almost every city. Not to mention all the attractive boutiques spread throughout all the nostalgic streets of France. Parks and monuments in France


France counts a total of seven national parks all maintained by Parcs Nationaux de France this organisation protects a total of 3.710 km² in central areas and another 9.162 km² in secondary areas. This is 2% of the total surface of France. Alle these parks attract a stunning 7 million visitors a year. During your study or internship in France it is great to visit these parks and see Frances nature at its best.

Eiffeltower in Paris
If you don’t feel like going out of town there are a lot of other options to visit in France. The Eiffel tower for example, with its 300 metres (320.75m including antenna), and the gigantic weight of 7000 tons it has been the worlds tallest building until 1930. It is a great experience not only being on top of the tower but also looking at it from a terras or just when you are lying in the grass resting from a hard days of work during your study or internship in France.

Arc the Triomph
Another worthy object to visit during your internship or practical work experience in France is the Arc de Triomph, given the order to build in 1806 by Napoleon it took the builders until 1836 tot finish it. Its four pillars contain four huge relief sculptures at the base. These sculptures all represent a different subject, The Triumph of 1810 by Cortot, Resistance, and Peace both made by Etex and The Departure of the Volunteers which is better known as La Marseillaise made by Rude. One by one world famous sculptures worth visiting.
