Another sport which France is famous for is cycling. All over the world people know the tour the France. The final run, ending at the Arc De Triomph is viewed every year by millions of people all over the world. The tour de France finds its origin in 1903 when two competing newspapers were trying to get more readers. One the magazines attracted a lot of readers by organizing annual 400 miles and 700 miles races. The other magazine then decided to create an even harder race with the duration of a whole month and over a length of 1.500 km beginning and ending in Paris. This turned out to be such a great success that the tour de France was born.
Nowadays the tour stretches over a length of 2.500 km leading its contestants through some really rough areas such as the Alps and the Pyrenees mountains. Every year athletes push themselves to the maximum of their strength and beyond to prove they are the best.
